No Jack Kennedy

For one brief shining moment, there was Obamamania. It now seems so long ago. What happened to the man whose "judgment" was once compared to JFK's?

Don't get us wrong. We're not counting Barack Obama out. He still has the lead in delegates and may still win his party's nomination. But even if he has the math on his side, he has lost something crucial. As B.B. King said: The thrill is gone.

That's no small loss, because it was the emotion of his campaign, not its intellectual content, that got Obama this far. Let's face it, his qualifications for the presidency were extremely light. But the less people knew about him, the more they saw him as the politician of their dreams. It was a major crush, and it had to end sometime.
