Weapons of Mass Discussion writes the following regarding Obama's-recently debuted-personalized recreation of the presidential seal:Some people have focused on the legal issues involving Barack Obama and his campaign's creation of his own "great seal." I am not going to go there, because firstly, no one is going to charge him, and secondly, it is questionable anyway. However, it does show a few things about this candidate. It shows a lack of taste. It shows a height of arrogance and disrespect for the office and the process. And, it shows a little bit about a man who claims to be against an imperial presidency but yet has to have his own seal before he even gets the job. However, it appears that Obama's seal has now been thrown under the bus.
Fox News reports:
Barack Obama’s much-mocked Presidential Seal won’t be seen again, according to campaign staffers. The modified Great Seal of the United States of America — featuting the familiar eagle modified with the Obama logo and the US Motto “E Pluribus Unum” changed to a rough Latin translation of Obama’s slogan “Yes We Can,” debuted at a meeting of Democratic Governors last week.Oh well. At least the seal won't be lonely. After all Grandma, Wright and plenty of others will be there to keep it company.
At the time, staffers indicated that it might be used again at similar presidential-style events. But today, after it was roundly ridiculed as more a symbol of the campaign’s arrogance than the campaign itself, staffers said the seal has seen it’s last podium.
